Far Apart and Yet Together by ArtyAMG Far Apart and Yet Together by ArtyAMG
TITLE: We Are Far Apart and Yet Together
(Modern Dancer Limited Editions #1 and #2)

My parents and I live on opposite coasts of the U.S. I have not seen them for over a year, and so it was really a treat to have them visit me and my family this week.

Both figures were painted as I enjoyed my parents' company. The red dancer figure was painted to represent an Asian dancer, and it is a present to my mom. :)

WORK DESCRIPTION:
This figure pair is a uniquely painted version of the 'Modern Dance Free Expression' sculpt. The figures is approximately 1/8-scale, measuring 7-7/8 inches (20 cm) tall. I sculpted this figure, mold and cast them in resin by myself, and painted the resin figures. The sculpting process can be seen here: 'From Gymnast to Ballerina WIP'.

The subsequent mold-making and casting these two figures took place from 8/28/09 to 9/11/09. The model prep took place from 9/14 to 9/22. And the painting of the two figures were expedited and done at the same time from 9/23 to 9/24, so that I could give the red figure to my mom. I keep the blue-green figure.

Wow, they're so beautiful. =D  The muscle toning is awesome as is the skin tone but the paint looks a bit thick in places but I don't know, maybe it's the cast? ~goes up and looks again~ It may indeed be the cast in that it may not have been sanded enough but don't worry, they're still stunning. =) Never could I dream of doing anything like this so ubber kudos to you.

These are great, but since you asked for a critique, I might have to say the super shininess of the hair makes it look either fake or greasy not really appealing.

It's always nice to give the art you've taken time to do to give to someone. I like the skin tone of the left one, and the blue to green blend in the costume is lovely. ^_^

My parents are happy with how they turned out. Originally, I was intending on a more subtle color scheme, but once painting started, my original color scheme was nowhere to be found. You are the first (besides me) who liked the redhead's skintone.

Aww that's nice, parent's are the best. ^_^ Yeah I was going to say when I picture a ballerina, she would be wearing a pastel pink suit and a puffy tutu. XD It's because I prefer the peachy white skintone, more then the tanned one as it feels more natural. ^_^

Both figures are free-standing because there is a support pin under the straight leg, and each has her own stand.
