Description
Echidna, from Queen's Blade, has got quite a exotic set of weaponry. It was very interesting making these small parts. I particularly enjoyed making her wicked looking buckler because it's got this blend of organic fierceness surrounded by geometric rigidity. It is not too big, about 4 inches in diameter.
It was one of the few times when free-flow detailing worked for me - I basically looked at the reference image, imprinted in my mind, and then started layering on putty. The painting of it was fun, too. I really didn't know how to achieve that green-tarnish patina on brass/bronze look. So I tried various Model Masters Acryl metallic paints, and somehow I got the blackened, welded look as a bonus in the painting process.
Shields and bucklers are good. We need them sometimes in real life, figuratively speaking, ney?

On the Ridley Scott Robin Hood we had verdigris as a special 'paint' that can be purchased to make our clothes worn in. Otherwise all the metal bickles would be too sparkly
