Believe in Solidarity by ArtyAMG Believe in Solidarity by ArtyAMG
This work is submitted to the THE SOLIDARITY CONTEST for the cause of fight against poverty (contest submission by 10/17/08).

CATEGORY: Artisan Crafts > Custom Dolls

TITLE: Angelic Goddess Belldandy Believes in Solidarity

Belldandy's always-positive outlook reminds me that hope springs eternal. In a tiny form, she floats atop pile of multiple grains from Lands of Plenty from around the World, and wishes that People of the World unite and work together to fight against poverty and hunger.

More abstractly, this could be viewed as a much larger-than-life goddess gracing over the land, with the grains as the surfaces of the Earth and the upper edge as the curvature of the planet. The areas Belldandy has graced turned from dark to light.

********

ABOUT THE FIGURE:

This Belldandy is a resin figure that I custom built and painted. It was customized from a garage kit (GK). The modifications/build, assembly and paint work took over 100 hours, over a span of nine months. She is entirely hand-brushed by me. :D

The figure is 1/12-scale, measuring 6.0 inches tall (15.2 cm), excluding the snowcap mountain base. Her face is about the size of pinky fingernail. For a sense of the tiny scale, please see Making of Angelic Belldandy.

The following list shows significant modifications I made to the basic GK:
- This Belldandy's wings were donated to another figure I made: Custom Urd Figure, Pose 3
- Extensive putty work on the existing hair pieces.
- Added hair strands and the bangs.
- Modified her back.

********

ABOUT THE CHARACTER:

For those who do not recognize the character, she is Belldandy, Goddess of the Present, from the manga/anime Ah! My Goddess (character copyright: Kousuke Fujishima).

Very sorry for the extremely late reply (I just overlooked the msg...). :ashamed:

To answer your question, you can buy it from e2046, and here's the link to the exact kit of this figure: [link]

If you have other questions, please let me know. :)

I think about colors a lot. Friends said it's easy to spot me thinking about colors, because I'll stop in mid-track and stare into space, like a deer in the headlight.

when I look at Belldandy I think...
Goddess call center huh ?
something like that must exist...somewhere out there =)
Even the God needs his servants to be reliable.
Belldandy definately is.
But she is not that easy to draw...

Thanks for your lovely comment!

(FYI, I did not sculpt this figure, but modified it from a 'GK'. GK is garage kit, which is a cast made of parts that a modeler prepares, builds, and paints. But I have some sculpting projects shown in my scraps. :) )

The hair strands are actually quite flexible and form-able. To change shape, I just pinch-scrape a piece of hair between my fingernails to curl it, etc. :)
